About this Event

Policing is currently in the spotlight but problems with policing are by no means new. Communities of color and minority communities have suffered harsh policing, disparate treatment, and injustice in our country’s justice system for over 400 years.

Famed civil rights and criminal defense lawyers Terry Gilbert and Gordon Friedman discuss the current moment in which policing and criminal justice remain under a brighter spotlight than ever. Their personal and professional historical perspectives put today’s events in context and provide insight into potential paths to a more just future. Audience Q&A with the speakers will follow their conversation.

This event is offered in connection with the February 27 Cleveland Public Library’s Writers & Readers Series 2021 event featuring a Candid Conversation between Jelani Cobb and Heather McGhee. Register for Writers & Readers with Jelani Cobb & Heather McGhee today while seats are still available.
